Bethel Police Badge/Sign from Former Police Station Restored

Report by Paula Antolini, January 13, 2021, 6:28PM EDT

Bethel Police Department badge/sign, restored by Records Supervisor Maria Wallenta, presently hanging in the new Bethel Police Station on Judd Avenue in Bethel, CT.

Message from Bethel Police Department:

“Since the mid-1970’s, a large wooden badge greeted visitors of the former Police Headquarters on Plumtrees Road. The badge had been a gift to Captain James O’Hara (Ret.) and it made its home as a welcoming symbol to all that passed by.

“Over time, the paint faded, but the badge kept its meaning to the Department and was brought up to the new Department on Judd Avenue during the move.

“The badge was recently renovated by Records Supervisor Maria Wallenta and is now proudly displayed in our training classroom.

“Thank you Maria!”
