Winter Storm Warning for Bethel, Tuesday into Wednesday, 4-9+ Inches of Snow Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Fairfield County and surrounding areas.

WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT
THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* WHAT…Heavy wet snow possible. Total wet snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

* WHERE…Long Island and southern Connecticut.

* WHEN…From late Tuesday night through late Wednesday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Tree branches could fall. Significant reductions in visibility are possible. A combination of the heavy wet snow and wind gusts of 25 to 40 mph could bring down tree limbs and power lines, creating power outages.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

Tuesday through Sunday: Intensifying low pressure off the southern Mid Atlantic coast will likely bring accumulating snow from late Tuesday night into Wednesday evening. Depending on the eventual track of the storm, some areas may receive significant snowfall of 6 inches or more. This would bemore likely to occur across central and eastern Long Island, but also cannot be ruled out elsewhere, mainly in the New York City Tri-State area and across coastal Connecticut.
