Where and When to VOTE in the November 8th Election for U.S. President and Local Candidates

The 2016 election is Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 and polling locations will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Connecticut voters will cast their votes for U.S. President on Tuesday.  They’ll also be voting for one of the state’s U.S. Senate seats, all five of its U.S. House seats and all of its state House and Senate seats.

Six parties have lines on the ballot. In order of how they appear, they are the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, the Working Families Party, the Independent Party and the Green Party. When is the next time I vote?

In 2016, Election Day will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8th. Polls are open from 6 AM to 8 PM.

 

How do I register to vote in Connecticut?

A registration form is available in English or Spanish.

Download the form and mail the completed form in a sealed envelope to the registrar of voters in your town. Beginning on the second page of this document, the name and address of the registrar of voters for every town is listed.:

What is Election Day Registration?

Election Day Registration permits anyone to register and vote in person on Election Day who meets the eligibility requirements for voting in this state and is not already registered, OR is registered in one town but has moved to another town. By law, a person is eligible to register and vote if he or she is (1) a US citizen, (2) age 18 or older, (3) a bona fide resident of the town in which he or she applies for admission, and (4) has completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a disfranchising felony.
Election Day Registration is not available at your polling place, but is available at a designated EDR location in each town, beginning at 6 am. You will need to provide proof of identity and residency.

Does my ID need to have the address printed on it?
No, it does not. Your identification needs to fit one of these three categories:

  • Name and Picture, OR;
  • Name and Address, OR;
  • Name and Signature.

My driver’s license says that it is not for federal identification. Can I still use it as identification at the polling place?

Yes. You may continue to use your current driver’s license at the polling place when you vote. When you check in to vote, in lieu of the driver’s license, you may also show a credit card with your name and signature, or an ID with your name and photograph, or any document with your name and address, such as a checkbook or a utility bill.
