WCSU Student John Board Selected to Anchor Local Award-Winning Election Program

Danbury, CT — Western Connecticut State University student John Board was recently selected to host the University’s Award-Winning Election Coverage. Election Connection provides the opportunity for more than 30 WCSU students and faculty members to work in a collaborative environment to produce, what has grown to be multiple live shows leading up to a three hour live broadcast of local election results.

This year Western Connecticut State University will be producing two, two-hour broadcasts and a three-hour broadcast on Election Night from the high-definition television broadcasting studio on the university’s midtown campus in Danbury.

The next show will be on:
Tuesday, November 7, 2017 (Election Day) from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (past shows were on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00p.m. and Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)

Not only will the University community be able to watch and listen to the show on the University Website: wcsu.edu/live, the University Radio Station WXCI 91.7 FM but also on cable TV, Charter Spectrum (Channel 192) and Comcast Xfinity (Channel 23).
Viewers are also invited to engage online via Facebook: “ WCSU Election Connection ” and Twitter: “@ElectionCT ”.

“I am honored to represent the Political Science department, while in providing my years of political knowledge and insight to this year’s municipal election cycle,” said Board.

“I believe it is fundamental for my fellow students, and greater university community, to know and understand what is happening in their local Town Halls, how their municipal CEOs are responding to residents, and how all levels of government – local, state and federal – interact. If there is a theme that will tie the three shows of this season together it is ‘ Understand Local Issues,” Board continued.

“In 2015 John was featured as a guest on the show. Last year, 2016, John served as my assistant producer helping us plan out the shows and provide technical assistance; this year I decided to recruit John back and put him on the anchor desk given his years of experience in municipal government and keen interest in State issues. There is no doubt that John’s knowledge of these issues will be key in our coverage this year,” said Professor Barone.
