Republican Candidates Selected for 2017 Brookfield Municipal Election

The Republicans in Brookfield along with the Brookfield Town Committee (BRTC) voted on July 25th for the selection of candidates for the upcoming Municipal election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

The caucus was held at the Whisconier Middle School and started promptly at 7:30pm. Approximately 118 Republicans attended in support of their party and all the candidates. The caucus was concluded by 8:15pm.

The following candidates and the offices they are running for, are:

Harry Shaker – First Selectman
Martin Flynn – Selectman
Jeff Dunkerton – Town Clerk
Dan Devorsetz, Roger Francoline, Matt Grimes, Glenn Rooney – Board of Finance (4 yr term)
Mark Mulvaney – Board of Finance (2 yr term)
Chris Delia, Joy Greenstein, Austin Samuelson – Board of Education (4 yr term)
Kevin Durkin – Board of Education (2 yr term)
Jerry Murphy – Board of Assessment Appeals (4 yr term)
Jerry Friedrich – Board of Assessment Appeals (2 yr term)
George Blass, Mel Butow, Linda Taylor – Planning Commission
Ryan Blessey, Jeff Cordisco, Erik Kukk – Zoning Commission
Neil Coppola, George Meyerle, Curt Timmerman – Zoning Board of Appeals (4 yr term)
Larry Ruschmeyer – Zoning Board of Appeals (2 yr term)

All candidates were recommended by the Brookfield Republican Town Committee at their meeting on July 11, 2017 except for Jerry Murphy and Jerry Friedrich who were nominated from the floor at the caucus on July 25th.
