On 12/13/18 at approx 9:04 am the Redding Police Department responded to John Read Middle school after a student had found a single small caliber (.22 cal) ammunition round in a hallway.
The school was placed on an administrative hold while officers from the Redding Police Department and CT State Police K9 Units conducted a safety sweep of the school. No other contraband was found. The school was released from the hold a short time later.
Additional Officers will be stationed at the school as a precautionary measure. There were no threats associated with this incident and there is no imminent concern for public safety. This matter remains under investigation.
John Read Middle School is located at 486 Redding Road in Redding, CT.
