Having trouble getting onto Facebook today?

Meta’s social media platforms are currently not working, with both Instagram and Facebook indicates “failure to load” error pages, according to DownDetector. Facebook has auto-logged people out and won’t accept their passwords.

DownDetector There are over 461,000 outages at 10:37 a.m., according to DownDetector, although that number has now dropped. Instagram also had over 25,000 reported outages at 10:51 a.m., but at its peak, over 70,000 people were affected.

Users report issues with resetting their passwords and using two-factor security to login.

Comments on the outage detection website say that their session expired and they can’t log back in. One comment is, “‘An Unknown Error Has Occurred’ each time I try to log back in on the app.”

Apps also seem to be affected.

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and Messenger are run by the parent company, Meta. They all appear to be having issues.

“The warnings about being logged out led to widespread concern among users that their accounts had been hacked, and a variety of concerned phrases trended on Twitter/X. But the error messages appear to be the result of problems with Facebook’s login system, not a hack or cyber attack,” according to Independent.

“Tracking website Down Detector showed vast outages at Instagram, Facebook and Messenger on Thursday, however. The problems were spotted right across the world, suggesting that the outage could be global,” according to Independent.

No word on what is causing the outage.

“Andy Stone, Communications Director, Meta, took to X to inform people that the Mark Zuckerberg-led company is working on the said issue,” according to X, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” he said in a post on X.

Users or seeking other website to find the latest information, and #FacebookDown is trending.

There is no update available yet on when Meta.com will resume service.

This is a developing story.
