Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut Seeks Art Entries for 2016 Accessible Art Project

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” – Edgar Degas

The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut is seeking art entries for the Accessible Art Project 2016, which celebrates its 8th year of showcasing artists who live and work in Western Connecticut in a year-long, multi-site series of exhibitions. Both wall space for two dimensional work and storefront windows for art installations will be made available by various venues who will host more than 25 exhibitions in Danbury and Bethel throughout the year. Artists may apply by visiting http://bit.ly/1MpJxNA
The deadline for entries is Friday, January 8th. Any submissions after that will be put on file for future review.
The Accessible Art Project is a collaboration between the Cultural Alliance, public and private venues, and artists. Its intent is to provide opportunity for artists to show work in alternative spaces and to make art more accessible to the general public. It is also a way for business leaders to leverage creative talent to promote economic development and bring life to downtown communities.
The Project is open to all artists 18 years old and up, and artists are required to be a current member of the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut to participate. Artists must have transportation and be available during normal business hours, and they must have the ability to hang/install and breakdown their exhibit. (This includes materials and human resources.)
Artists may submit a minimum of four (4) sample images, up to a maximum of 12 pieces. A jury selected from  the local arts community, participating venues, and the community-at-large will review submissions and selects artists based on the entries submitted. The jury’s decision is final.  Artists are selected to exhibit at selected locations for approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Selected artists are notified of the date and location of their exhibition in advance. Artists may be selected for a solo show or as part of a group show. Artists may also be selected for more than one location.
The annual membership fee to the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, which provides for the organization’s extensive marketing and promotions services, is $45.00. Online payments are accepted at http://bit.ly/cawc_membership or by check made payable and sent to: Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut (CAWC) 287 Main Street, Danbury, CT. 06810 For additional information call (203) 798 0760 or go to artswesternct.org
