Breaking News: Plane Crashed Near Danbury Municipal Airport Upon Takeoff, 3 People Injured

A Cessna 172S Skyhawk, registration N612DF, crashed upon take off near Danbury Airport at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017.

“The rented aircraft crashed just after taking off from Danbury Municipal Airport. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. Three people were transported to hospital, two with serious injuries and one with minor injuries.” — aviation-safety.net

This is the area near Miry Brook Road and Backus Avenue where a Danbury dog park is located.  According to a tweet by Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, “all plane crash victims are at hospital (Danbury),”and the “dog park will remain closed” (near the site of the acccident).  They are waiting for the FAA to arrive.

Mark Stern, 63, the pilot of the airplane, passed away on Thursday in Danbury Hospital after succumbing to his injuries sustained from a private plane crash on Sunday morning.  View more info. HERE.
