Breaking News: First Confirmed Case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is in Danbury from Danbury and Norwalk Hospital Worker

The State officials confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is in Danbury, Connecticut, reports the Hartford Courant. Governor Ned Lamont will hold a press conference at 7:30pm at Danbury City Hall to discuss more details, reports the Hartford Courant.

The person who contracted the Coronavirus is an employee of both Danbury Hospital and Norwalk Hospital, and lives in New York state, which has more than 40 coronavirus cases, mainly in New Rochelle, located 50 miles from Danbury. The person tested positive for the Coronavirus.

“So far, 14 people have died across the country, according to a count by Johns Hopkins University. There are more than 100,000 cases worldwide, with nearly 3,500 deaths. An estimated 56,000 people have recovered from the virus, according to Johns Hopkins,” according to the Hartford Courant.

Lamont said, “There will be a process to find out how that person got the virus and trace back what contacts have they had with other people, kind of follow their trail to find out who else we have to track down and get tested,” according to the Courant.
