Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will urge Congressional Republicans to stand up to the misguided efforts of the National Rifle Association, and to instead work with Congressional Democrats to close an egregious loophole in our nation’s gun laws that currently allows individuals on the terror watch list to purchase firearms and explosives.

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will urge Congressional Republicans to stand up to the misguided efforts of the National Rifle Association, and to instead work with Congressional Democrats to close an egregious loophole in our nation’s gun laws that currently allows individuals on the terror watch list to purchase firearms and explosives.

Last week, Senate Republicans voted to block several meaningful measures to reform our nation’s broken gun laws, including a widely supported measure that would close the terror gap and prevent individuals on the terror watch list from purchasing deadly weapons.
