Message to Students, Parents, & Guardians:

The Bethel Board of Education and Bethel High School “believe that regular, on-time student attendance at all grade levels is the cornerstone of any student’s education.” Furthermore, we believe “that irregular attendance, tardiness to school, and frequent early dismissals deprive students of critical educational opportunities.” Unfortunately, in the last few weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of students that have been tardy to school. As a result, we wanted to send a reminder concerning the tardy policy.

Any student tardy to school (or class) by more than 20 minutes is considered absent. Any student tardy to school (or class) without being excused, will be assigned a detention. In order to excuse a tardy, a parent or guardian must call the attendance line at (203) 794-8600 ext. 425 before the end of the school day. If students do not attend their tardy detention, this will eventually result in an In School Suspension. After 10 unexcused tardies, students may receive an In School Suspension for each subsequent tardy. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the appropriate administrator.

Thank you for your partnership in this matter.
