Bethel Police: Recent Criminal Arrests Include Assault on a Police Officer, Protective Order Violations, Election Polling Place Disturbance

Three individuals were recently arrested and arraigned by Bethel Police Officers on November 9th and 11th, 2016. See details below.

Bethel Police: Recent Criminal Arrests Include Assault on a Police Officer, Protective Order Violations, Election Polling Place Disturbance

Three individuals were recently arrested and arraigned by Bethel Police Officers on November 9th and 11th, 2016. See details below.

Norberto Tavarez, age 20, white, was arrested on November 9, 2016, at 16 Scuppo Rd Danbury, CT,and charged withViolation of a Protective Order 53a-223 and Violation of a Protective Order 53a-223.

On November 9, 2016 Bethel Police responded to a complaint by a town resident that her ex-boyfriend had been harassing her by phone and text message in violation of a Court issued Protective Order baring contact in any way. The offending party was identified as Norberto Tavarez and he was located at his residence in Danbury where he was placed under arrest. Tavarez was transported to Bethel Police Headquarters where he was routinely processed and later released on $7,500 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court at 9:30 am on November 10, 2016.

Brian Mansfield, age 55, white, was arrested on November 9, 2016, at 2:40 p.m. at 8N Beach Street, Bethel, CT, and charged with Assault on a Police Officer 53a-167c, Refusal to be Fingerprinted 29-14 and Breach of Peace 2nd degree 53a-181.

On November 9 , 2016, Bethel Police went to the residence of Brian Mansfield to issue him a misdemeanor summons related to a disturbance he created at an election polling place the previous evening. In the initial incident Mansfield had been disrupting voting operations, was disruptive with polling staff, disturbed a Girl Scout cookie sale table, and intentionally knocked over polling location materials. When Mansfield was issued the summons at his residence he spat into the face of a uniformed Police Officer and was then placed under arrest. Mansfield was routinely processed at Bethel Police Headquarters but refused to be fingerprinted which resulted in an additional charge. Mansfield is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court at 9:30 am on November 22, 2016. For situations such as this, that is, when a police officer is assaulted, or even when they might have to face situations that endanger their lives, the officers could opt for life insurance. Robert Linke, age 61, white, was arrested on November 11, 2016, at 1:34 p.m. at 60 Nashville Road in Bethel, CT, and charged with Violation of a protective order, Assault on a Police Officer Burglary 3rd degree, and Criminal Mischief 3rd degree.

Bethel Police responded to 60 Nashville Rd on a report of a person on the property who should not be there. Upon arrival Police determined that a rear window to the residence had been broken and used as a point of entry by Robert Linke who was later found within. Linke was barred from the residence pursuant to a court issued protective order and then resisted arrest resulting in minor injury to the arresting officer. Linke was placed under arrest and held on S25,000 awaiting a court date at 10:00 am on November 14,2016 in Danbury Superior Court.
