Bethel PD Announces ‘Miraculous Recovery’ of Maddie, Daughter of Bethel Police Detective; Participate in Virtual 5k to Raise Funds for Families of Children with Cancer, May 1-2

Report by Paula Antolini, March 28, 2021, 9:05AM EDT

Thanksgiving of 2018 the Bethel Police Department reached out to the Bethel community asking for support. Maddie, the daughter of Bethel Police Detective Frank O’Farrell, had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.

Not only was the outreach and support outstanding, but it truly made a difference. After extensive treatments, including multiple surgeries and chemotherapy, we are overjoyed to officially share that Maddie’s scans have been cancer free since September of 2019!

With intensive therapy, a tenacious attitude, and the love of those around her, Maddie has made incredible strides…even walking nearly three and a half miles with her close friends this past weekend!
