LETTER TO THE EDITOR / OPINION
America’s Future in Biden’s Camp
In a recent article by Patrick Buchanan entitled: “Is Our Second Civil War — also a ‘Forever War’?” he presents a case for a “rigged,” “stolen” election. And, after four years, of “terrorists,” “tyranny,” “revolution,” “coup,” “impeachment” and “treason” flashing in the headlines, like lightning bolts through the atmosphere, is America on the verge of a bloodless ideological war? Can the United States of America envision then participate in nationwide civil strife?

This may seem alarmist, conspiracy theorizing on its surface, but consider the underlying, empirical evidence. While the nation was divided along moderate voting lines: 81,282,903 Biden and 74,223,030 Trump — it appears divided markedly along ideological ones. Not much new since the red, right-winged conservatives, also known as Republicans, and the blue, left-winged progressives, aka Democrats, have waged political battle under one label or another since our country’s inception. But in the second decade of the 21st century, the stakes and consequences are of an equal or greater, more severe magnitude than its first Civil War, 1861 – 1865.
A capitalistic economy and a “rugged individualism” mindset have been the tracks this country has run along since its transition into the 19th Century. Americans also endeavored to adhere to the axiom that “the government that governs least governs best.” Now socialism may derail our ship of state. The government, the collective crave the power, the control.

While the values and policies that each political party has espoused have modified or even reversed, over 240 years, one mutually compatible, common principle has been: “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Now being contested: Whose lives matter? Which liberties (1st & 2nd Amendment rights) should be constrained? Who’s to be made happy (11 million illegal aliens and criminals)?
America has also guided itself by: “All men are created equal,” the realization of which is also being put to the test. Police reform, racial injustice and reparations for past offenses are on the list of challenged concerns.
In order for President-elect Biden to get the support to beat President Trump, he needed an alliance with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders. Putting Kamala Harris on the ballot as vice president may have brought him in association with Black Lives Matter and African-American voters. Add to the supportive ranks a cancel culture movement, the instigation and insinuation of the media and Anti-fa — and a volatile eruption of volcanic proportions appears imminent.

These confederates will determine the future of our country. Vice president-elect Harris has off-handedly defined the extent and degree to which Biden reflects these agendas. She has (out of design or Freudian slip) dubbed it the Harris-Biden ticket.
Combatants and clashes in place, where will you be positioned when the battle begins?
