Will Duff could easily be called the “Energizer Bunny” in his life’s quests, seemingly unstoppable and with boundless energy, even when that “spirit” was almost taken away from him when he fought a battle to save his own life against cystic fibrosis at age 41. Will Duff has now indicated his intent to seek the seat as CT State Representative in the 2nd District, the seat Dan Carter just announced he would not run for in the next election because he is considering a run for U.S. Senator.

Will Duff could easily be called the “Energizer Bunny” in his life’s quests, seemingly unstoppable and with boundless energy, even when that “spirit” was almost taken away from him when he fought a battle to save his own life against cystic fibrosis at age 41.

Former Bethel Republican Town Committee (BRTC) Chairman Will Duff has announced his candidacy for the 2nd District General Assembly Seat being vacated by Dan Carter.  Carter announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate earlier this week. Duff will seek the nomination of the Republican convention to be held on Wednesday, May 11th.

So with a new pair of lungs, Duff intends on breathing new air into the state of Connecticut!  Watch Duff run.

Bethel residents are familiar with Duff’s tenacity, picking himself up, dusting off the past, and constantly moving forward to the next goal without even a thought of failure. These qualities will take him far in whatever destiny is set for him.

He did not take no for an answer when he lost the nomination for First Selectman candidate in the Republican caucus in 2015.  Instead, he went out campaigning door to door and gathered nearly 300 signatures (only need 170) to gain a chance at running against Pat Rist and he won the Republican nomination.  It was then a close race against First Selectman Knickerbocker, but not for a lack of trying.

He regrouped, and now has his sights set on the CT State Representative position.  He has definite stands on the important issues and feels he can make a real difference to help the state of Connecticut to improve in many areas.

Will has served as Republican Town Committee Chairman from 2014 to 2016 and chose not to keep that position and now his new plans are for CT State Rep..  In addition to the BRTC chairman position, he is a former Bethel Selectman and has served on the Bethel Board of Education. He also operates a business in Bethel’s Dolan Plaza, The Bethel Mail Service Center, at 211 Greenwood Avenue.

Duff stated, “The 2nd District has been fortunate to have Rep. Carter’s exemplary representation over the last six years.  He has been a champion in standing up to the Malloy administration’s reckless policies and irresponsible budgets which have sent people out of Connecticut in droves.  I look forward to stepping up to carry on Dan’s legacy of fighting for lower taxes and less government control.”

According to Duff, “People in Connecticut are angry and concerned because they love Connecticut and they don’t like what’s happened to the Nutmeg State in recent years.  I have the ability and the experience in municipal government to represent the interests of Bethel, Redding, Danbury, and Newtown will compassion, diligence, and dedication.  I look forward to listening to the people of the second district in the coming months and hearing their ideas as to how we can make Connecticut better.”

The 2nd General Assembly District includes two thirds of Bethel, nearly two fifths of Redding, and small portions of Danbury and Newtown.  It has been represented by Dan Carter since 2011.
