Woman Stabbed to Death during Violent Dispute with Neighbors in New York City; Suspects Arrested by Police

New York City, NY – A Bronx mother was fatally stabbed over the weekend in what authorities describe as a violent dispute between neighbors. The victim, 30-year-old Shashamanie Thompson, was found unconscious and unresponsive at 1182 Ogden Avenue in Highbridge shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, according to the NYPD.

Two suspects, a 24-year-old female neighbor, Beyonce Johnson, and a 21-year-old man, Saleh Ceesay, have been arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter in connection with the deadly attack.

Victim Found Severely Injured

Witnesses described a gruesome scene inside the apartment building. One neighbor told authorities that Thompson “came out of the staircase and … dropped down covered in blood”, attempting to move around despite her injuries.

The neighbor recounted asking the victim, “Who stabbed you?”, to which Thompson replied, “The girl stabbed me”, before collapsing.

Thompson suffered stab wounds to her face and abdomen and was immediately rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Another resident, who identified herself as Amber, described blood covering the lobby, stairwell, and floors of the building.

Arrest of Suspects

According to the NYPD, Beyonce Johnson, who lives a few blocks from Yankee Stadium, and Saleh Ceesay, a resident of Mott Haven, were both arrested late Saturday night in connection with the incident. Both face murder and manslaughter charges.

Authorities indicated that the stabbing may have resulted from a bitter neighbor dispute that escalated violently. Additional residents were taken in for questioning as the investigation continues.

Community Reaction

The stabbing has left the Highbridge community in shock. Residents described the horrifying scene, noting that Thompson had a young son who lived with her, underscoring the tragic nature of the incident.

Neighbors praised the first responders who arrived quickly, noting that their efforts, while too late to save Thompson, were critical in securing the scene and assisting witnesses.

Investigation Ongoing

Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, including any prior conflicts between the victim and the suspects. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to aid in the investigation.

Law enforcement officials emphasized the importance of reporting violent disputes before they escalate to prevent future tragedies.
