Lincoln, Nebraska – A woman was trapped inside her vehicle after a violent crash in south Lincoln on Monday evening, according to local authorities.
Crash Near South 27th Street and Coronado Drive
The incident occurred near South 27th Street and Coronado Drive, just north of the SouthPointe Pavilions shopping center. Emergency crews were dispatched after reports of a single-vehicle accident involving a car that had veered off the road and overturned.
Car Narrowly Missed Light Pole Before Flipping
An officer at the scene said the vehicle was traveling north on South 27th Street when it lost control. The car narrowly missed a light pole, flipped at least once, and became entangled in nearby trees.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud crash followed by emergency sirens within minutes. The Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) team quickly arrived and began efforts to extricate the trapped driver.
Driver Extricated and Hospitalized
Rescue crews worked carefully to remove the female driver from the wreckage. She was then transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Officials with the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) later confirmed that her injuries were non-life-threatening.
At this time, no citations have been issued, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities did not immediately release the woman’s name, according to the reports.
Road Closure and Cleanup
The accident caused temporary traffic disruptions as crews worked to clear the scene and ensure the vehicle was safe to tow. Northbound traffic along South 27th Street was blocked for several hours but has since reopened.
Motorists in the area reported slowdowns near Coronado Drive as first responders managed debris and assessed road safety conditions.
