Where Does Democrat Candidate Raghib Allie-Brennan Live?

Raghib Allie-Brennan’s Home Address and Other Information Could Be Questionable

As election day nears we need to take a good long look at the candidates wanting to represent Bethel and nearby districts, such as the 27-year old Raghib Allie-Brennan (D) who is running against incumbent Will Duff (R), for CT State Representative in the 2nd District. Allie-Brennan is running for a second time against the same opponent, after losing to Duff in 2016.

Democrat Will Haskell, 22, has already been revealed with possible untruths about his residence and campaign finance handling, with an official election complaint filed against him by the Chairman of the Republican Party, J. R.Romano.  Now there are questions about Democrat Raghib Allie Brennan’s actual residence and other issues.

Do these young candidates think laws do not apply to them?

We’ve noticed some possible discrepancies in Allie-Brennan’s information, that might make you think about how important honesty is in a candidate, even on the little things, but that of course is relative to your interpretation. However, it’s all in the details, as they say. I think we all want a candidate we can trust 100%. So if a candidate gives possible inaccuracies during his campaign, is it likely we cannot trust him in office on bigger issues?

Do we have yet another possible young carpetbagger in our midst?

Should something like your home address be a difficult subject to talk about when you’re a candidate?  Possibly so, for candidate Raghib Allie-Brennan.

Residents seem to be questioning where he actually lives, which would then also relate to what address he claims as his legal address on legal documents.

There is so much information on this topic, and we can show you endless URL links from searches on where Raghib Allie-Brennan is living or has lived, and all the legal papers he’s listed that address upon recently or in the near past.  But we’ve tried to capsulize it here, and there’s even a lot to see in the short version.

The bottom line is that we allege that the house he is presently listing as his home and legal address has been vacant for a substantial amount of time.  This is according to realtors who have shown the home to buyers on and off for the last few years, and perhaps further back than that. So this means Allie-Brennan could fraudulently be misrepresenting the facts for which he’d be subject to penalties. Read more below.

The Conversation about Raghib Allie-Brennan’s Address

Allie-Brennan said he “absolutely” lives in Bethel, when a Bethel resident (who wishes to remain anonymous) recently asked a question pertaining to Allie-Brennan’s address, on October 29, 2018, at 10:31pm, in an online Facebook forum. Raghib Allie-Brennan then posted some comments. This is how the conversation went:

The Bethel resident asked, “I noticed the home associated with Raghib Allie-Brennan ‘s voting record is pending sale. Where does he actually live? I assume it’s someplace around here. does anyone know? Raghib, you’ve avoided answering any of my questions here, and this is an honest question. Where do you call home if not at that address on Cross Hill Rd? It’s really a fair question, I see a Southbury address for the relatives formerly at Cross Hill, it’s kinda relevant if you live in the district you are running for, don’tcha think?”

Raghib Allie-Brennan replied, Our family home is on the market and we’re looking for another home in Bethel. Why are you looking to buy?”

To which the resident replied, “Not in Bethel, maybe escape CT sometime in a few years. Still living there? was curious if you still lived in bethel given what someone linked me to on zillow.”

Allie-Brennan replied, absolutely still living in Bethel.

Then Allie-Brennan ended his comments.

Legal Definition of Residence and Domicile

When legally talking about a place a person calls home, there are distinctions between “residence” and “domicile” according to uslegal.com:

“For purposes of jurisdiction, ‘domicile’ means a legal residence which is the place where a person has fixed dwelling with an intention of making it his/her permanent home.”

“Generally residence is referred to a place, where one person lives.  It is also a building used as home.”

“These terms are given equal meaning where a statute stipulates residence as a qualification for the enjoyment of a privilege or the right of voting in an election.”

So the question is, does Raghib Allie-Brennan fulfill the legal requirements to call 9 Cross Hill in Bethel CT, his legal residence?

How can he, if the house in which he says he lives is verified as vacant?

More definitions from askdrs.ct.gov: “You are a resident for the taxable year if:

—Connecticut was your domicile (permanent legal residence) for the entire taxable year; or

—You maintained a permanent place of abode in Connecticut during the entire taxable year and spent a total of more than 183 days in Connecticut during the taxable year.”

Also view Sec. 12-701. (1) on cga.ct.gov, which basically says same as above.

On thelawdictionary.org you can view another definition of “domicile” which reads in part, “In its ordinary acceptation, a person’s domicile is the place where he lives or has his home. In a strict and legal sense, that is properly the domicile of a person where he has his true, fixed, permanent home and principal establishment, and to which, whenever he is absent, he has the intention of returning.” (in re Garneau, 127 Fed. G77, 02 C. C. A. 403.)

The Vacant House

The home Allie-Brennan is listing as his address, and that he is listing on many official documents, is 9 Cross Hill Road, Bethel, CT.

The home is owned by his parents Imtiaz Allie and Serena Allie.  His parents purchased the home on 1-18-2008 for $611,000, realtor records show, and it went back on the market for sale in 2011, as shown on zillow.com. (View dates by clicking on “Price/Tax History” on the Zillow page.)

We have three different realtors (who prefer to remain anonymous) that have confirmed that the home was vacant when shown to buyers, and that the family eventually added a few pieces of furniture back into the home to make it “show better” but no one was living there when realtors were showing it to buyers, they said.

The 9 Cross Hill house has been listed as vacant, realtor records show (various dates, read more below).

We have realtor paperwork (that represents months of showings through the years) that shows “vac’ on the listing, which means vacant. Paperwork shows listing contract dates 12-12-2014, 6-2-2017, 6-27-2017 and as late as 10-9-2018, to name a few, but Raghib is still saying he lives there.  One document from 6-27-2017 actually reads “Photos are from the time the Seller lived in the home.”

View a few of the realtor papers here:

How can Raghib say he lives in a home that is vacant?  This is the address he gives as his official address, yet realtors are showing a vacant house to buyers.

The home at 9 Cross Hill Road, Bethel, CT also has a “sale pending” status. Allie-Brennan’s parents originally paid $611,000 for the home, and then had it on the market for years, and are now possibly selling it for $419,900. View here (under “Price/Tax History).

And Raghib Allie-Brennan is still saying he lives there, and that Connecticut is great.

Southbury Home

Why is Raghib saying, “We’re looking for another home,” when records show a home located at 90 Pine Rock Rd. in Southbury, CT appears to have been purchased by Raghib’s parents, Imtiaz Allie and Serena Allie for $345,000 on August 2, 2012?

In our search, Southbury, CT, keeps coming up as Allie-Brennan’s present residence, along with possible relatives at the same address. He did say his mother lives in Southbury, CT.  So is he living with his mother and/or other family members?

An online search for Allie-Brennan’s address did show all three family members (Raghib and his parents) listed under the address 90 Pine Rock Road, Southbury, CT.

Conversation between Rebecca Terricciano, Executive Director, Connecticut Republicans, and a Bethel resident

There is a conversation that a resident (who wishes to remain anonymous) had with Rebecca Terricciano, Executive Director, Connecticut Republicans, and the conversation in part, is shown as follows:

The resident asked, “It’s about Will Duff’s opponent, the ‘residence’ he listed on his committee formation form has been vacant … trying to research, and can’t find a legal definition of residence.’ “

Terricciano said, It seems like a legitimate complaint – what address is he using to register”?  “Same. replied the resident.

“Lol okay I’ll peek at it. Residence issues seem to be common among Dem challengers this cycle,” said Terricciano.

Finally the resident asked, “So what I noted would be a legit complaint? He should’t claim as a residence a vacant home for sale?” and Terricciano said, “If the place is vacant – he doesn’t actually live there and perhaps is engaging in voter fraud.”

And from Rebecca Michlin, Executive Director, Connecticut Republican Party, “Your best bet would be to file a complaint with SEEC.  Seems like a legitimate reason to file one.”

So where is Allie-Brennan living?  And why might he be possibly lying about where he actually lives?

In Art. 3, §4.of the Connecticut Constitution it reads, “The house of representatives shall consist of not less than one hundred twenty-five and not more than two hundred twenty-five members, each of whom shall be an elector residing in the assembly district from which he is elected. This means if Allie-Brennan is not living in Bethel now, he has until approximately mid January when he is sworn in (IF he wins) to find a dwelling in his district.

There are many more discrepancies in the the information Raghib Allie-Brennan has presented to the public.

Since this article is so long, we will just say that you need to check all Raghib’s dates compared with other documents of his, and also against what he actually says.

For instance, on his campaign page under “Meet Raghib” he said he “returned to Bethel in 2015 ” but on his Linkedin resume he states that he was in Washington DC (or possibly NC?) from  to

He also states on Linkedin that he is a “Grant Writer” yet does not list his present job in Stamford CT … why not? Does he still work there?  View images below.

Raghib’s campaign page:

Raghib’s resume on Linkedin:

*****

Raghib said, “I don’t believe in all this doom and gloom [in Connecticut] “

When Raghib ran for office (and lost) two years ago, Raghib said, “As a young person I am optimistic about our future of Connecticut, I don’t believe in all this doom and gloom, and you know, the Republicans here today would have you think this is the end of times, but no, we do live in a great state.”

Raghib’s parents are possibly selling their home (sale pending) for $200,000 less than what they paid, and Raghib still thinks this state is great?

He was wrong then, and he’s wrong now.

Editor Note, November 2, 2018: We would like our readers to know that we made many attempts to contact Raghib Allie-Brennan to obtain his comments in this matter and he has not answered our telephone calls or voice messages or text messages.  He also blocked us from viewing his Linkedin resume (we have a copy though).

So we are providing you with some comments he made to others online about his residence status.

Editor Note, March 30, 2019: We see that some of the links to Linkedin we provided in this article are no longer showing info., most likely due to availability changes made by Allie-Brennan.
