Weekend Nor’easter Leaves Behind Cool, Wet Conditions Across D.C. Area

Washington, D.C. – A nor’easter that battered the mid-Atlantic region over the weekend continues to bring rain, strong winds, and cloudy skies to the Washington, D.C. area on Monday. The storm, now gradually exiting the region, left behind soggy conditions and cooler temperatures to start the week.

Lingering Rain and Cloudy Skies

Residents across D.C., Maryland, and northern Virginia are seeing cloudy skies, isolated showers, and pockets of drizzle this evening as the system moves away. According to 7News First Alert meteorologist Steve Rudin, the region will remain damp into the night, with temperatures dropping into the 50s and winds from the north between 10 and 20 mph.

Those attending the Washington Commanders vs. Chicago Bears game at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, should prepare for patchy drizzle and chilly winds, which could affect playing conditions on the field.

Weekend Storm Impact

The nor’easter produced strong coastal winds and heavy rain across parts of the mid-Atlantic through the weekend. Ocean City, Maryland, recorded around one inch of rainfall and wind gusts up to 50 mph along the beaches. Although D.C. saw less rain, gusts reached up to 37 mph, leading to scattered branches and minor disruptions.

Forecast for Tuesday

The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that Tuesday will begin with lingering showers and breezy conditions, but both wind and cloud cover will gradually ease by afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 60s to low 70s, with sunshine breaking through later in the day.
