San Francisco, CA — Visa has announced that its flagship event, the Visa Payments Forum (VPF), will return to San Francisco in 2026 after being hosted this year in Dallas, Texas. The milestone event will mark the conference’s 20th anniversary and will take place at the Moscone Center, a venue that will now serve as its home for the next five years.
Moscone Center Secures Multi-Year Deal
According to KRON4 News, Visa confirmed Wednesday that Moscone Center will host the VPF annually through 2030. The decision ties the payments giant’s global conference back to its roots in the Bay Area, where Visa’s headquarters officially opened in the Mission Rock neighborhood in June 2024.
This move also puts San Francisco in the spotlight alongside other major tech and business events, with Salesforce’s Dreamforce scheduled for October 2025 and HumanX bringing its multi-day conference to Moscone in April 2026.
Economic Impact for San Francisco
Local officials have emphasized the economic benefits of securing large-scale conferences. San Francisco projects that 32 events at Moscone Center in 2025 alone could generate nearly $600 million for the city’s economy.
Mayor Daniel Lurie praised Visa’s decision as a signal of downtown San Francisco’s resurgence.
“Companies are bringing workers back to the office, small businesses are opening across our city, and you can feel the energy downtown,” Lurie said. “Visa’s commitment to bring their conference to the Moscone Center underscores San Francisco’s status as a world-class destination for business and innovation.”
Data from Visa also indicates that spending in the city is up 10% and has been rising steadily month over month.
Visa’s Commitment to Innovation in San Francisco
Visa executives said the decision reflects the company’s long-standing ties to the city.
“The future of payments is here in San Francisco, a city that has always been at the heart of Visa’s story,” said Oliver Jenkyn, Group President, Global Markets at Visa. “By bringing Visa Payments Forum home, we are investing in the local community, supporting economic growth, and showcasing San Francisco’s role as a global hub for innovation.”
The event is expected to attract thousands of attendees, from payment industry leaders to technology partners, further solidifying San Francisco’s place as a leading center for business conferences.
Looking Ahead
As San Francisco continues to compete with cities like Las Vegas and Dallas for high-profile corporate gatherings, securing the Visa Payments Forum for five consecutive years represents a significant win. With its headquarters newly established in Mission Rock and a major global event locked in through 2030, Visa has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Bay Area.
