Johnson County, MO — A flight instructor and a student pilot were injured Tuesday afternoon when a small plane made an emergency landing north of Centerview, authorities said. Both sustained minor injuries.

According to the Johnson County Fire Protection District (JCFPD), emergency crews responded shortly after 4:45 p.m. to reports of a possible plane crash. The single-engine aircraft was located about 200 yards off NW 501 Road, near the Blackwater River.
“The two people on board, a flight instructor and a student pilot, are reported to have minor injuries,” JCFPD confirmed. One individual was taken by ambulance to a local hospital (source).
Cause of Emergency Landing
The flight, originating from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, experienced an engine failure, forcing the aircraft to perform a controlled emergency landing in the cornfield. No further injuries or property damage were reported.
