Two Children Lost In Woods Rescued by Bethel Fire & EMS, Bethel Police & Resident

Report by Paula Antolini, June 9, 2019, 11:13PM EDT

Message from Bethel Fire & EMS:

This evening members of Bethel Fire & EMS were called to a report of lost children in the woods. Reportedly 2 children had entered the area of the Old Quarry Nature Preserve via a known trail, they quickly became disoriented and wandered off the trail.

Our excellent public safety dispatcher was able to track the phone the child called from and gave appropriate direction to FD and PD units on scene.

The children were found quickly thanks to a local resident who heard them shouting.

A fire crew was able to gain access to the area on foot and walk the children out, where they were seen by a waiting ambulance.

We would like to thank all the local residents who helped our search efforts. Units on scene were Rescue 1, Utility 1 with the EUV, Ambulance 1, Engine 5, and Car 1 @ Bethel Fire & EMS.
