Minneapolis, MN — Prosecutors have charged two people in connection with the Clinton Avenue mass shooting that left one man dead and six others injured just a day before the tragic Annunciation Church attack. The complaint alleges the pair gave a ride to a gunman known as “Bino,” who opened fire on a group outside Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
Shooting Near Cristo Rey Jesuit High School
Police responded last Tuesday afternoon to reports of gunfire near Clinton Avenue and 29th Avenue South. Officers found seven victims at the scene, including 35-year-old Gregory Sweeten, who was killed after suffering a rifle wound to the head.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that ShotSpotter detected 30 rounds fired and said the suspect used a high-velocity .223 rifle.
Less than 24 hours later, another gunman would target Catholic school students during mass at Annunciation Church, killing two children and injuring 23 others — a sequence of events that has shaken the community.
Charges Against Quinn and Martindale
According to FOX 9, 33-year-old Ryan Quinn and 30-year-old Tiffany Martindale are both charged with aiding an offender to avoid arrest.
Police say a witness provided dashcam video that showed a gray Honda Civic at the scene. Investigators traced the vehicle to Quinn’s address in Inver Grove Heights. Surveillance footage later showed both Quinn and Martindale returning there shortly after the shooting.
“The video also showed Martindale in the passenger seat of the Honda with Quinn,” the criminal complaint states.
How the Shooting Unfolded
During questioning, Quinn admitted that he and Martindale had been driving “Bino” around the city. Quinn said Bino instructed them to head to Clinton Avenue and 29th Street.
“As they pulled up a second time, he got out of the car wearing a mask and holding a rifle, and opened fire,” the complaint reads.
After the shooting, Quinn said Bino climbed back into the Civic and was later dropped off on the north side of Minneapolis. Surveillance video confirmed key parts of Quinn’s account, showing the car circling the block before a passenger exited and began firing into the crowd.
Phone Records and Links to “Bino”
Investigators also searched Martindale’s phone. Police reported finding:
- Multiple calls between Martindale and Bino the day before the shooting.
- A text message from Bino with the address of a McDonald’s just blocks from the crime scene.
- Evidence suggesting Martindale coordinated with Bino in the hours leading up to the attack.
Police say this communication, paired with video evidence, places both Quinn and Martindale directly in support of the shooter’s actions.
What Remains Unknown
Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the masked gunman known only as “Bino.” It remains unclear whether police have located him or plan to file additional charges.
The Clinton Avenue shooting has left residents alarmed, especially as it came on the heels of another deadly mass shooting in the city. Students, community groups, and local leaders continue to rally against gun violence in Minneapolis.
