Milwaukee, Wisconsin – A high-speed chase through downtown Milwaukee ended in a crash near 9th and Mineral Streets on December 22, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of cash and illegal drugs, authorities reported.
Chase Begins Near Farwell Avenue
Milwaukee police say the pursuit started when an officer spotted a Dodge Ram truck in an alley near Farwell Avenue and Royall Place, an area known for drug distribution and consumption. A check with the Department of Transportation revealed that the truck’s registration was suspended, prompting the officer to attempt a traffic stop.
The driver, later identified as Michael Lee Singleton, 35, fled, initiating a high-speed pursuit through downtown Milwaukee. Authorities reported that the vehicle reached speeds of up to 105 mph before losing control.
Crash and Arrest
The chase ended when Singleton crashed the truck into a fence. Both he and his passenger, 22-year-old Brianna Coyle, fled on foot but were eventually taken into custody by police.
According to the criminal complaint, “The crash appeared to have ejected both money” from the vehicle. Investigators recovered more than $3,600 in cash along with several illegal drugs, including fentanyl, crystal meth, and cocaine.
Charges Filed
Michael Lee Singleton faces a total of nine charges, including:
- Second-degree recklessly endangering safety
- Several counts of intent to deliver a controlled substance
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
Brianna Coyle, the passenger, was charged with bail jumping and obstruction of justice for providing police with a false name during the arrest.
