Traffic Stop in Two Rivers Leads to Seizure of Multiple Drugs and Over $9,000 in Cash, Police Say

Two Rivers, Wisc. — An early Friday morning encounter in Two Rivers resulted in the seizure of multiple types of drugs, assorted drug paraphernalia, and more than $9,000 in cash, according to the Two Rivers Police Department.

The traffic stop took place around 1:47 a.m. in Lot 5 near Zlatnik Drive, after a police lieutenant noticed a vehicle parked after hours in the area.

Suspicious Behavior Prompts Further Investigation

Authorities say the lieutenant approached the vehicle to determine why it was parked in the lot overnight. Officials reported that the driver’s suspicious behavior and inconsistent explanations quickly raised concerns, prompting officers to conduct a deeper investigation into the situation.

With the driver showing clear signs of evasiveness, officers requested the assistance of the department’s K9 team, as per the reports.

K9 Xanti Alerts to Narcotics in Vehicle

K9 Xanti, trained in narcotics detection, was deployed to conduct a sniff around the vehicle. The police department stated that K9 Xanti immediately alerted to the presence of illegal substances inside the car, giving officers probable cause to perform a full search.

Inside the vehicle, officers uncovered a wide array of drugs and related materials:

  • 6.03 grams of cocaine in individually packaged baggies
  • 103.85 grams of THC gummies
  • 80.46 grams of raw THC
  • Multiple THC smoking devices
  • Packaging materials consistent with drug distribution
  • Over $9,000 in cash hidden throughout the vehicle and on the driver

Police say the amount and packaging of the substances strongly indicate distribution-level activity.

Driver Identified and Arrested

The driver was identified as 48-year-old Tamara Gergen, who authorities say has prior drug convictions. Following the discovery of the drugs and cash, Gergen was arrested and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail, where she now faces multiple drug-related charges.

The department did not specify the exact charges, and no additional information has been released at this time.

Ongoing Investigation

As the investigation continues, officials say more details may be shared as they become available. The Two Rivers Police Department emphasized the importance of vigilant patrols and the valuable role of K9 units in uncovering criminal activity during seemingly routine encounters.
