Report by Paula Antolini, January 15, 2021, 6:27PM EDT

TOWN OF BETHEL CT IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

COVID-19 VACCINE INFORMATION

The towns of Bethel and Redding are combining resources to establish a local COVID-19 vaccine clinic, which is expected to open by the first week of February. The Town is accepting advanced registrations now for eligible residents. Your name will be placed on a waiting list and you will be contacted to schedule an appointment when vaccines become available.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

We are now taking advanced registrations for individuals in Phase 1b who are 75 and older.

Please be advised that vaccine supplies are very limited at present. We do not know exactly when your appointment will be scheduled, and supplies are very limited at present.

You may register online or by telephone. To register online, please click the following link:
https://www.bethel-ct.gov/ Click the “Vaccine Info” link at the top of the page.

To register by phone, please call the Bethel Vaccine Infoline:
203-794-8523. The line is staffed from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00am to Noon on Friday. Our Senior Center staff is also ready to help seniors with the form. They can be reached at 203-794-8593.
We encourage everyone in this eligible group to register now.

BEWARE OF VACCINE SCAMS

It’s a sad commentary on the state of affairs these days, but it is a fact that vaccine scammers are already operating. Please be aware of the following:
COVID-19 vaccines will be supplied to you at authorized clinics at no charge. You will never be asked for a credit card number or to reveal your Social Security number to “validate your eligibility.”

If you are contacted by someone who offers you a vaccine and asks for this information, we advise that you hang up immediately and notify the Bethel Police Department.

ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO OBTAIN THE VACCINE

In addition to Bethel’s soon-to-open local clinic, there is also a statewide registration system in operation now. It is called VAMS, which stands for Vaccine Administration Management System. This system involves a multi-step process in which you first register with VAMS and request admission into the system. Once you are approved, based on your age group, you will receive a separate email with an appointment request link. The clinics available may be outside of our immediate area.

You can access the VAMS system here:
https://portal.ct.gov/Corona…/COVID-19-Vaccination—Phases…
The VAMS system is separate from the new Town registration system. You are free to use either of the two systems. In either case, please be aware that supplies are very limited and your patience is very much appreciated.
