New York City, NY – A 1-year-old boy was seriously injured after being attacked by a pit bull on a crowded street in Union Square, Manhattan on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2025. The incident left the toddler with a deep laceration in his leg, shocking onlookers who attempted to pull the dog off the child.
The attack occurred outside the Santander Bank near East 13th Street and Broadway around 11:10 a.m., according to police and video footage of the incident.
Horrific Scene Captured on Video
Video shows the boy’s mother pleading for help as several bystanders tried to remove the dog.
One man repeatedly kicked the dog, while another held it in a headlock. The dog owner attempted to control the animal by the leash but failed to prevent the attack. A man finally intervened by grabbing the dog from behind, prompting it to release the child.
The child’s mother can be heard desperately yelling, “Call the police! Someone pull him off! Someone please!”
Witnesses described the injuries, with one saying, “Oh my God. There is a hole in his f–king leg, bro. There is a hole in that boy’s leg.”
Victim’s Condition and Response
The boy was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue and listed in stable condition. His father told police that the incident occurred when the child’s leg accidentally swung in front of the dog’s mouth during pickup.
The toddler required multiple stitches to treat the lacerations. Family members expressed concern about the dog, calling it dangerous, and said they would explore other avenues to have the dog euthanized.
Dog and Owner Information
The 2-year-old pit bull, named Disco Bubba, is owned by a man who was reportedly not facing criminal charges. The dog’s owner has previously posted on Instagram calling the animal his “best friend” and boasting about the dog being a watchdog.
Family members voiced frustration, emphasizing the ongoing risk the dog poses to others, especially young children.
