We are thrilled to have author/poet/blogger Jeanne Claire Probst join Bethel Advocate as a contributor, sharing her “Thought and Poem” written works with us. Her work covers many topics. THOUGHT AND POEM

Time is a funny thing. You can either have too much time…or too little. On some days, the clocks will tick too fast…and on other days they will tick too slowly. We can either want time to go slower or it flies by so fast we don’t know where it went. In a nutshell…we are never content with the time.
We can be the best organizer of our time and know exactly how much time it takes to accomplish our tasks that we have to do, but unless everyone around us cooperates with our plan of action it doesn’t mean we will get our job done…on time.
We have a doctor’s appointment and even if we leave our homes…on time…we cannot control the traffic, other people’s mistakes that slow us down, or something else who delays our getting to where we need to be at a specific time. When we get there with our hearts racing, blood pressures much higher than they should be and about to have a melt-down, as we settle down in our chairs we wonder why we got so worried about getting to our appointments on time…because now we have to WAIT! They finally call your name and they usher you to the exam room and then you wait again. Time…it has its advantages…and disadvantages…you think?

Don’t be late…
Slow it down some may say…
Others want you to speed it up as they wish no delays.
Time controls when we do something or what we have to do
But our spirit is the drive behind how and when we move.
Even when you can’t control what another will do
You try your best to accomplish your tasks and how things will work best for you.
You may rush to get where you need to go
But when you get there you have to wait as someone else is slow.
Then sometimes you try to slow time down to make the moment last
While other times we miss out on making good memories because time went by too fast.
Wasting time…
Can leave one behind…
Not enough time…
Can cause someone want to lose their mind.
I give up so here is what I will do
And what you do will be up to you
But don’t let time control when things will get done
Otherwise…we become losers and time will have won!

The Fifteen Houses, a Novel
The Fifteen Houses is the first book of this new and exciting series to be published. Staged in the beautiful and scenic palate of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, in the early 1950’s, the main character delves into her reoccurring and discomforting memories of her younger, formative years. Searching for answers to questions that have resurfaced in her mind over and over again during her time away from her family, she seeks to find rhyme and reasons to her insecurities, anger, phobias, fears, and life’s choices. Julianne Marguerite, one of eleven children, is determined to uncover the “mystery” that resulted in the downfall of her family. As you turn the pages in the book, each series of memories, will open a different door, to the different homes, (“Fifteen” to be exact).
