EL PASO, Texas – A tragic multi-car collision on Monday morning near the Texas-New Mexico border resulted in the death of a 52-year-old El Paso man.
Crash Details
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on August 18 in the 13100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Northeast El Paso, near the state line. According to the El Paso Police Department, a 2017 Ford F150 driven by a 49-year-old woman from Chaparral, New Mexico, was heading south when she swerved to avoid a collision.
As a result of her maneuver, the driver lost control of her truck, which crossed into oncoming traffic. The truck then collided with a 2016 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Oscar Lopez, a 52-year-old man from El Paso, and a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by a 59-year-old El Paso man.
Fatalities and Injuries
Lopez, the driver of the Hyundai Elantra, was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Despite efforts to treat him, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The other drivers involved in the collision sustained injuries, but authorities did not provide further details on their conditions as per El Paso Times.
