Black River Falls, Wisconsin – Three individuals are in custody after authorities uncovered a methamphetamine operation in Jackson County, law enforcement officials said. The arrests followed a chance encounter at a local Walmart that led to a home search and seizure of suspected drugs and paraphernalia.
Walmart Encounter Leads to Arrest
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 5:29 p.m. on December 22, 2025, when a deputy spotted a wanted individual entering the Walmart store in Black River Falls.
The individual, later identified as 37-year-old Ryan Carter of Black River Falls, was taken into custody on a probation/parole warrant. During the encounter, the deputy discovered suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle that had brought Carter to the store.
Additional Arrests and Vehicle Search
The vehicle was being driven by 38-year-old Brandon Spangler, also of Black River Falls, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug-related offenses. Law enforcement officials then obtained a search warrant for Carter’s residence, which resulted in the apprehension of a third suspect.
Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia Found at Residence
During the home search, authorities located 39-year-old Brandi Sattler of Warrens, Wisconsin, along with a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 90 grams (0.2 pounds), and various drug paraphernalia consistent with sales.
Officials also seized U.S. currency found at the residence, suggesting potential distribution activity. Sattler was arrested on suspicion of drug-related offenses and is being held on a probation hold.
Estimated Street Value and Charges
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office estimates the street value of the methamphetamine seized to be between $1,500 and $2,000. All three suspects face serious drug-related charges, and further investigations are ongoing to determine whether additional individuals were involved.
Authorities emphasized the success of coordinated law enforcement efforts in identifying and apprehending those involved in drug distribution, while also cautioning the public about the dangers of methamphetamine in the community.
