Three Arrested after Alton Drug Sting Uncovers Over 300 Grams of Cocaine, Stolen Gun, and Cash

Edwardsville, IL — A major narcotics investigation led by the Alton Police Department has resulted in the arrests of three suspects accused of participating in a large-scale drug trafficking operation. Authorities say the sting uncovered over 300 grams of cocaine, a stolen firearm, and a “large” sum of cash.

Undercover Operation Leads to Arrests

Following a series of undercover drug buys, Alton Police executed a search warrant on October 29, which culminated in the arrests of Mintai A. Bedford (39) of Godfrey, Christina J. Seward (37) of Alton, and Creeuna N. Munson (30) of East St. Louis. Each suspect now faces multiple felony charges tied to drug trafficking, weapons possession, and obstruction of justice.

Suspect Profiles and Charges

Mintai A. Bedford

Bedford, identified as the primary suspect, was charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm by a repeat offender
  • Armed violence
  • Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance — all Class X felonies
  • Unlawful possession of a stolen firearm — a Class 2 felony

Police allege Bedford was found in possession of over 100 grams of cocaine with the intent to distribute. Investigators also discovered a stolen Glock 19 handgun, which Bedford allegedly possessed despite having prior felony convictions for aggravated battery to a peace officer (2006) and making a terroristic threat (2018) in Madison County.

Christina J. Seward

Seward, identified as Bedford’s sister, was charged with:

  • Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Class X felony)
  • Unlawful possession of a stolen firearm (Class 2 felony)
  • Obstructing justice (Class 4 felony)

Court records allege Seward attempted to conceal evidence, including drugs and weapons, during the police search.

Creeuna N. Munson

Munson, Bedford’s girlfriend, faces the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Class X felony)
  • Obstructing justice and aggravated assault of a peace officer (both Class 4 felonies)

Police say Munson drove her vehicle toward an Alton officer during the raid in an attempt to escape, as per the reports.

Details of the Drug Raid

The Alton Police Department conducted three controlled drug buys from Bedford prior to executing the search warrant. During the raid, officers seized:

  • Over 300 grams of cocaine
  • The stolen Glock 19 handgun
  • A large quantity of cash

Authorities said Seward and Munson were caught attempting to remove or hide evidence, including narcotics and the stolen weapon, during the search operation.

All Suspects Held Without Release

Court filings show that all three defendants were remanded to jail following the arrests. Prosecutors have filed petitions to deny pre-trial release, citing the severity of the charges, prior convictions, and risks to public safety. The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office is overseeing the prosecution, and additional federal charges could be considered pending forensic results from the seized evidence.
