Oh no not another one you’re probably thinking…Not another one of those tiresome letters-to-the-editor trumpeting this candidate, their candidate, THE candidate who can raise, lower, fix, fund, stop, start, push, pull, close, open, save, budget…BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE.
This is not one of those letters.
It is about Will Duff, however.  The very likeable William I. Duff who–in his journey to become Bethel’s First Selectman–has most likely walked/rung/shook every street/bell/hand in town.  in pursuit of your vote.  In order to win.
To win.  To best.  To beat.  More than a decade ago the aforementioned Will did just that in a fight to the finish with cystic fibrosis…In a no-holds-barred-blitzkrieg-of-a-battle that would make SunTsu gasp.  Will went on to marry, work, travel, run the family business.  Currently–in addition to his duties as a school board member and chairman of the town Republican committee–he’s consumed with his latest goal. Finishing first would fulfill a life-long dream and rightly cap an enviable career in public service. To the town he loves.
The character traits that define William Duff–steely courage, unfailing optimism, true grit,  dogged determination– are qualities critical for any politician aspiring or incumbent. We all realize they should be front and center when scrutinizing “choices”.  What a candidate IS is more important than what candidate promises.
Promises are subject to breakage.  One’s character,  on the other hand, is set
in stone.
