Anchorage, AK – A 14-year-old teen was arrested Sunday morning following a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle and the discovery of an altered airsoft pistol, according to the Alaska State Troopers (AST).
Stolen Vehicle Reported in Palmer
Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle in Palmer around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Authorities noted that the vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside.
Officers located the vehicle within 10 minutes and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled at high speeds.
Chase Ends on Glenn Highway
The chase continued for approximately 12 miles along the Glenn Highway, north of Palmer near Moose Creek, before the vehicle struck a guardrail and slowed down.
Troopers identified the driver as a 14-year-old juvenile, who was alone in the vehicle, wearing a ski mask, and in possession of an airsoft pistol with all orange/toy markings blacked out.
Charges and Custody
According to the reports, the teen was taken into the Department of Juvenile Justice’s custody and faces multiple charges:
- Felony vehicle theft
- Possession of burglary tools
- Felony failure to stop at the direction of a police officer
- Felony criminal mischief
