Harris County, TX – A mother is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly shooting her 13-year-old son during a fight at their home in north Harris County, authorities report.
Incident Details
The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Ranch Oak Drive, near Hardy Street, in the Remington Ranch neighborhood. According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, deputies were first dispatched around 5:20 p.m. for a domestic dispute. While en route, they received another call reporting gunfire and someone injured by a gunshot.
Investigation Findings
Cpt. Juan Flores of Pct. 4 said investigators determined that the mother had been involved in a physical altercation with her son when she discharged a firearm. Officials confirmed to a local news outlet that the teenager was unarmed at the time of the shooting.
The boy was immediately transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound, while other family members inside the home at the time were unharmed.
Prior Incidents
Authorities noted that law enforcement had previously been called to the home for incidents involving disputes between the mother and son.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has approved charges of aggravated assault against a family member, and the mother is expected to be booked into Harris County Jail.
