Seattle, WA — Seattle police have arrested two teenagers following a violent armed carjacking that led to a late-night police pursuit in North Seattle. The dramatic series of events unfolded around 9:30 p.m. on Northeast Radford Drive, leaving residents shaken and police in active pursuit of additional suspects.
Armed Carjacking Reported in North Seattle
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers were dispatched to the 6200 block of Northeast Radford Drive after receiving reports of an armed carjacking. Investigators say the victim was confronted by multiple suspects when one pointed a gun and demanded his car keys and cellphone.
After threatening the victim, the suspects stole the BMW and fled the area, setting off a police manhunt across North Seattle.
Police Use BMW Tracking System to Locate Vehicle
Thanks to real-time vehicle tracking technology, authorities quickly alerted the BMW manufacturer, who assisted in pinpointing the stolen vehicle’s location. Within approximately 30 minutes, officers traced the stolen BMW to a grocery store parking lot in Northgate, a neighborhood just north of downtown Seattle.
When officers arrived, they discovered a 15-year-old girl inside the car. She was immediately detained without incident. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy — already known to police for robbery and assault offenses — attempted to flee on foot but was caught shortly after a brief pursuit.
Two Other Suspects Remain at Large
While two teens were taken into custody, two additional suspects escaped from the scene, as per KOMO News. Despite assistance from a King County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, authorities were unable to locate the remaining suspects on foot.
The SPD Robbery Unit continues to investigate, and police are urging anyone with information about the remaining suspects to come forward. Investigators believe the pair may still be in the Seattle metro area and could be linked to other recent carjacking incidents.
Arrested Teens Facing Robbery Charges
The two teens — the 15-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy — were booked into juvenile detention at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children & Family Justice Center. Both face robbery-related charges, though additional charges may be added as the investigation develops.
The stolen BMW has been impounded for forensic analysis as part of ongoing evidence collection.
Ongoing Investigation
Police emphasize that the case remains active and open under the Seattle Police Robbery Unit. Detectives are working to identify and arrest the two suspects still at large, and authorities have increased patrols in the Northgate and Radford Drive areas to ensure community safety.
