Los Angeles, CA – A high-speed chase in Van Nuys Thursday night ended dramatically when a suspect wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) clipped a parked car, flipped his SUV, and was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Chase Details
The pursuit began earlier Thursday evening, though the exact time officers initiated the chase remains unclear. Sky5 captured the intense pursuit just after 9:00 p.m.
The suspect, the sole occupant of the vehicle, drove recklessly at 40-50 mph, weaving through traffic, running red lights, and attempting to evade officers by cutting through parking lots and alleyways.

Police Intervention
LAPD officers successfully deployed a spike strip, shredding the vehicle’s left front tire, which eventually fell off the rim. As per KTLA, sparks flew from beneath the SUV as the driver continued to maneuver with the damaged tire. At one point on Van Nuys Boulevard, the suspect leaned out of the window to inspect the tire damage.
Crash on Calvert Street
The chase came to a dramatic end on Calvert Street, where the suspect’s SUV collided with a KIA Optima, causing it to flip onto its side. Police immediately rushed to the scene, pulled the driver—who was breathing but unconscious—from the vehicle, and called for an ambulance.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and the suspect’s charges are expected to be announced soon.
