Jackson, Mississippi – A stolen vehicle pursuit in Jackson, Mississippi ended with the suspect fleeing on foot, while a Capitol police officer was involved in a minor crash but escaped injury, authorities reported.

The incident began around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday when Capitol police officers attempted to stop a white Ford Escape reported stolen. The driver refused to yield, triggering a pursuit near East Northside Drive and Office Park Drive.

Suspect Abandons Vehicle

The chase concluded when the suspect abandoned the stolen SUV near Avenue J and Main Street and fled on foot. Police quickly set up a perimeter and conducted a search, but no arrests have been made so far.

Officer Involved in Crash

During the pursuit, a Capitol police officer was involved in a single-vehicle crash near Lampton Avenue and Eminence Row. The officer was not injured and continued participating in the response as per WAPT.
