Stephanie Ann Olson, 45, of New Milford, Bethel, CT and Vinalhaven, Maine, died on July 3 at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. Stephanie is survived by her parents Carol and David Olson of Bethel, her brother Peter of Bethel, her brother Brian and his spouse Maria of Natick, Massachusetts and by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents Kathryn and Howard Becker of West Hartford, Ruth and Roland Olson of West Newton, Massachusetts and stepmother Nancy Becker of Venice, Florida.

Stephanie graduated from the Bethel Public Schools, Elizabeth Seton College and Iona College with degrees in early childhood education. She will be missed by her family, friends and co-workers from Cedargables Pre-School in Danbury, Stew Leonard’s, the Regional YMCA and Kindercare. Stephanie greatly enjoyed being a member of the Women’s Club of Greater New Milford and participating in its activities, especially the annual Teddy Bear Festival.

Stephanie’s family would like to share some of the countless kind words from her friends that captured her essence. Among them: “These are the lessons Miss Stephanie taught my three children, in their words; Hug Hard (tightly), Smile and Laugh, Love Life, Be Kind to Everyone”. “The world has lost an extremely kind and beautiful soul.” “You brought sunshine and light wherever you went and were one of the bravest souls I ever met.”

A celebration of Stephanie’s life will take place on July 14 at Michaels at the Grove, 42 Vail Road, Bethel, Connecticut from 4:00-7:00 p.m., starting with a service at 4:30 p.m. and followed by refreshments. For friends and family in Maine, we will also gather to remember Stephanie at our place in Vinalhaven on Saturday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (147 Grassy Plain Street, Bethel, CT 06801); Vinalhaven Eldercare Services (PO Box 624, Vinalhaven, Maine 04863); or the Women’s Club of Greater New Milford (PO Box 225, New Milford, CT 06776).
