Springfield Weather Chilly Start to the Week, Warmer Days Ahead Across the Ozarks

Springfield, MO. — Residents across Springfield and surrounding areas are waking up to a chilly start this week, but the good news is — warmer, more comfortable days are on the way. Following a frosty Sunday morning that dipped as low as 28°F, much of the Ozarks will gradually transition to above-normal temperatures through midweek, according to local forecasts.

Cold Start to the Week

Early Monday morning will still feel brisk, with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s to around 40°F across the region. A frost advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Monday for Baxter and Fulton counties in Arkansas, where frost could linger in low-lying areas.

However, a high-pressure system moving southeast of the region is expected to shift winds to the southwest, preventing another sharp temperature drop overnight. By Monday afternoon, conditions will improve with highs reaching the mid-to-upper 60s under mostly sunny skies.

Warmer Trend Building Midweek

Meteorologists report that an upper-level ridge developing from the Desert Southwest will dominate much of the week’s weather pattern. This ridge will usher in milder temperatures and clear skies through Thursday, marking a pleasant stretch of autumn weather.

By Tuesday, temperatures are forecast to climb into the 70s for many locations in the Ozarks, with Wednesday and Thursday bringing even warmer afternoons in the low-to-mid 70s. Overnight lows will stay comfortable in the 40s, a notable improvement from the weekend chill.

Chance of Rain Late Week

Changes are expected by Thursday night into Friday morning when a cold front and upper-level disturbance approach the area. Meteorologists say limited moisture means the system may only bring a few isolated showers or thunderstorms.

“Right now, the setup doesn’t look too wet,” local forecasters noted. “We’re watching for scattered rainfall, but widespread storms aren’t likely.”

Once that front moves through, conditions will quiet down again by Friday afternoon, offering another stretch of fair weather.

Weekend Forecast: Cooler but Active

Looking toward the weekend, another weather system could bring scattered showers and storms on Saturday, followed by a noticeable cooldown into Sunday.

Highs may dip into the upper 40s to mid-50s, with morning lows in the upper 30s, signaling a return to more typical November weather.
