Los Angeles, CA — Southern California residents can expect a warm and sunny Thanksgiving week, with temperatures running well above normal and breezy conditions developing across the region, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Forecasters say Tuesday’s afternoon highs are already about six degrees above average, and Wednesday is expected to be even slightly warmer. Many cities across the region will see temperatures in the mid-70s to lower 80s, creating a pleasant — yet unseasonably warm — holiday week.

Gusty Winds Expected for Holiday Travelers

Beginning Tuesday morning, gusty winds are expected to increase, raising the possibility of advisory-level winds in some areas.

The NWS cautions travelers to remain alert:

“Given significant holiday travel that day, be prepared for occasional moderate crosswinds when driving,”
the agency said in its Tuesday morning update.

The winds will be especially noticeable in typical Santa Ana wind-prone areas, potentially affecting both commuters and travelers heading out for Thanksgiving plans.

Thanksgiving Day Outlook by Region

Meteorologists say Thanksgiving Day will bring dry, mild, and breezy weather, with temperatures varying by county:

  • Los Angeles: Low to high 70s, with breezy Santa Ana winds early in the morning
  • Ventura County: Low to mid-70s, also with morning Santa Ana winds
  • Santa Barbara: High 60s to mid-70s
  • San Luis Obispo: Mid-60s to low 70s

Overall, the region will enjoy sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, making outdoor gatherings and travel particularly favorable.

Looking Ahead: Slight Chance of Weekend Rain

Dry weather is expected to persist through the middle of next week, but there is a slight chance of rain developing late this weekend.

Forecasters currently expect only a 20% chance of light showers on Sunday or Monday. If precipitation does occur, the NWS says rain rates will be very low, with no major impacts anticipated.

As the weekend approaches, temperatures will cool noticeably. By Saturday, most areas will see daytime highs dipping into the mid-60s, offering a brief break from this week’s above-average warmth.
