Hampton, AR — A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged with capital murder following the death of a woman in Hampton, Arkansas. The arrest came after an investigation by the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
Early Morning Discovery
Authorities said Hampton police officers were called to a home on the 600 block of South 2nd Street at around 6 a.m. on August 31. When first responders arrived, they found 62-year-old Katherine Brice of Hampton injured and unconscious.
Brice was rushed to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, but she later died on Sunday evening.
Officials have not yet disclosed the nature of her injuries.
Arrest of Roderick Freemont
The case was turned over to Arkansas State Police investigators at the request of Hampton police. Their investigation quickly identified Roderick Freemont, 55, as the suspect.
ASP confirmed that Freemont has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. According to KARK News, he remains in custody as the case continues.
“The ensuing ASP CID investigation led to Freemont’s arrest,” state police officials said in a news release.
