Georgetown County, S.C. – A major narcotics operation in the Knox Swamp area of Georgetown County has resulted in six arrests, following complaints from local residents and tips to law enforcement, authorities said.

Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Fentanyl and Firearms

On Monday, deputies from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Vice Unit conducted a traffic stop near Hanna Loop. The driver, Maniel Lathorn Dorsey, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. Officials recovered a significant quantity of suspected fentanyl and a handgun from Dorsey.

Additional drugs were found on passengers Kimberly Shyann Moore and Kevin Tyrone Palmer, who were also in the vehicle. Palmer, authorities noted, had active family court warrants in the county.

Search Warrant Uncovers More Drugs and Weapons

Following the traffic stop, the Narcotics and Vice Unit, in coordination with deputies from the Patrol Division, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 100 block of Hanna Loop. The search uncovered trafficking amounts of fentanyl, distribution-level quantities of cocaine, marijuana, and hydrocodone pills, as well as multiple firearms, including a stolen weapon.

As a result, Roderick Weaver, Herbert Leon Moore, and Catherine Lynn Hughes were arrested on multiple charges, as per the reports.
