Kent, WA – A driver and passenger were injured after a car was reduced to twisted metal following a violent collision with a tree early Monday morning in Kent, leaving large portions of the vehicle strewn across the street.
Crash Location and Timing
The wreck occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday at the intersection of S 84th St and S 212th St, in an area just south of Westfield Southcenter Mall. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle lose control after crossing railroad tracks, ultimately slamming into a tree on the east side of the road.
Details of the Wreck
According to police, the impact was so severe that the car was torn apart, leaving only a few recognizable parts, including one of the largest remaining pieces that appeared to be a seat. Video footage from the scene showed car debris scattered across both the east and west sides of S 84th Street, with some parts wedged between two trees that bore visible collision scars.

Authorities indicated that the driver’s speed and possible impairment were contributing factors in the crash. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and both occupants of the car were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to KOMO.
The extent of their injuries has not been released, but authorities confirmed that there were no fatalities.
Response From Police and Emergency Teams
Kent Police officers secured the scene and worked to remove debris from the roadway. Given the severity of the crash, traffic in the area was temporarily rerouted, and authorities advised drivers to exercise caution near the site.
Officials are investigating the incident further to determine the exact cause of the crash, including whether alcohol, drugs, or other impairments were involved. Police also urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash or captured video to come forward to assist with the investigation.
Vehicle Damage
The car involved in the crash was left virtually unrecognizable, with twisted metal, shattered glass, and scattered parts covering a large area of the roadway. Only a few large fragments, including a seat, could be identified as part of the vehicle. Officers described the scene as one of the most severe single-car crashes they had seen in the area in recent months.
Authorities continue to remind drivers to adhere to speed limits and avoid impaired driving.
