Westfield, IN – A 62-year-old Sheridan man lost his life Wednesday evening after a head-on collision on U.S. 31 near 191st Street, authorities confirmed.
Fatal Crash Details
The crash occurred around 9:45 p.m. when a Chevrolet Cruze, traveling southbound, crossed the median and entered the northbound lanes. The vehicle collided head-on with a Dodge Ram traveling northbound, resulting in catastrophic damage to both vehicles.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased driver as Edward Johnson, 62, of Sheridan. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Injuries and Response
The occupants of the Dodge Ram sustained minor injuries and were treated on-site. Emergency responders and law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene, closing northbound U.S. 31 just south of 191st Street for more than three hours. All lanes reopened around 1 a.m. on Thursday, as per Fox59.
