Orange County, FL – Two Orange County corrections officers were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in a major drug scheme at the county jail, authorities reported. The Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI) led the probe that uncovered the operation.

Investigation Details

Officials said the investigation began in spring 2025, after the Orange County Corrections Department noticed several inmates appeared under the influence of drugs while in custody.

After six months of investigation, authorities announced that 36 individuals are now facing charges related to bringing drugs into the jail. Among the suspects:

  • 22 inmates at the time of the offenses
  • Two corrections officers: Danielle Lamb, 39, and Sharnese Warren, 39

Charges Against Officers

Danielle Lamb faces:

  • Introduction of contraband into a county facility

Sharnese Warren faces:

  • Racketeering
  • Conspiracy to commit racketeering
  • Unlawful use of a two-way communication device

Additionally, investigators revealed that a private attorney is also facing charges for allegedly transporting illegal drugs into the jail while acting as an inmate’s legal counsel, according to reports.

Department Response

Corrections Department Chief Louis Quinones condemned the alleged actions of the officers, stating:

“Such misconduct is not in line with the more than 1,600 men and women performing honorably within the agency.”

Ongoing Efforts to Prevent Jail Drug Smuggling

The Orange County Corrections Department has since intensified measures to prevent drug smuggling, including:

  • Enhanced screening of visitors and staff
  • Regular inspections of inmate mail and packages
  • Randomized cell searches
  • Collaboration with law enforcement agencies to identify and stop illegal drug networks targeting correctional facilities

These steps aim to protect the safety of inmates and staff and ensure the integrity of the county jail system.
