HARTFORD — On Sunday, March 8, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will host a number of different meetings with community members and advocates around Connecticut:

Start-up Roundtable in Bridgeport

Murphy will host a roundtable discussion with members of Bridgeport’s startup community to encourage innovation, job creation, and economic growth. During the event, Murphy will hear about the experiences of local entrepreneurs and receive specific feedback on how the federal government can support their efforts.

Greek Community Town Hall in Stamford

Murphy will host a town hall meeting with leaders of Fairfield’s Greek-American community to discuss the recent election in Greece, Greece’s relationship with the rest of the European Union, and other important issues and concerns of the Greek-American community.

Concussion Meeting in Westport

In response to the disturbing number of concussions in student athletes, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Murphy will meet with parent advocates to discuss the dangers of concussions in young athletes, and will call for a federal response to reverse this concerning trend.

Last Congress, Murphy announced his support for the Concussion Treatment and Care Tools (ConTACT) Act – legislation that would establish a national standard that outlines when a student athlete could return to play after a concussion, and would authorize resources to ensure schools have adequate medical staff coverage to implement best practices in concussion diagnosis, treatment, and management.
