San Antonio Man Arrested after High-Speed Chase Uncovers Massive Meth and Weapons Stash

San Antonio, Texas – A San Antonio man now faces serious drug and gun charges after a dramatic police chase and crash on the city’s West Side led deputies to uncover a large quantity of methamphetamine and an arsenal of firearms, including stolen and untraceable weapons.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported that the investigation began on December 12, 2025, when deputies were executing a drug-related search warrant near the intersection of Cagnon Road and Highway 90. During the operation, deputies attempted to stop a truck driven by Mikal Mireles, but he refused to comply, prompting a high-speed pursuit through West Side streets.

Chase Ends in Crash on State Highway 151

The chase concluded at State Highway 151 and Hunt Lane, where Mireles collided with another vehicle. Following the crash, Mireles fled the scene on foot, but deputies quickly apprehended him, preventing further danger to the public.

Residents in the area described the chaos from the crash. “The sound of the crash was terrifying,” said one nearby witness. “I saw the truck hit another car and then try to take off on foot. It was a frightening scene.” Thankfully, no other serious injuries were reported, though the crash left both vehicles heavily damaged.

Large Methamphetamine Seizure

Inside Mireles’ truck, deputies discovered approximately eight ounces of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of his home revealed an additional 32 ounces of the illegal drug, bringing the total amount seized to roughly 40 ounces, according to officials.

“This is a significant seizure that removes a substantial amount of illegal drugs from our community,” said a spokesperson for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities emphasized that the quantity of meth involved points to potential distribution-level activity, rather than personal use, and could have had a wide-reaching impact on the local drug market.

Weapons Cache Found in Residence

The investigation did not stop with the drugs. Deputies also recovered 17 firearms from Mireles’ home. Among these were four guns reported stolen, several “ghost guns” that are untraceable, and firearms with illegal modifications, making them especially dangerous.

Other items seized included a rifle suppressor, digital scales, and drug packaging materials, all pointing to organized drug trafficking activity. Authorities stressed the combination of weapons and drugs in the home represented a significant public safety threat, particularly given Mireles’ willingness to flee from law enforcement.

Charges and Jail Booking

Mireles was booked into Bexar County Jail on charges of:

  • Evading arrest with a vehicle
  • Manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance weighing more than 200 grams

Officials indicated that additional gun-related charges are expected as the investigation continues. The sheriff’s office also highlighted the risk posed to the public during the chase, noting that the pursuit could have endangered other drivers and residents in the area.

Community Safety and Law Enforcement Response

The sheriff’s office urged San Antonio residents to remain alert and report suspicious activity, emphasizing that community involvement is key to preventing illegal drugs and weapons from circulating in neighborhoods.

“The combination of high-speed pursuit, illegal drugs, and a large arsenal of firearms could have had serious consequences,” said the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. “We are grateful that deputies acted quickly to apprehend the suspect and prevent further harm.”

Law enforcement also underscored that this arrest disrupts a potentially dangerous distribution network, removing both narcotics and weapons from circulation.

What do you think about the growing issue of meth and illegal firearms in San Antonio? Do you believe current enforcement measures are sufficient to protect neighborhoods from high-risk criminals?
