Roof Collapses after Fatal Crash into Boring Bar; Second Deadly Crash in Area in Two Days

Boring, OR – A fatal crash occurred Tuesday morning when a vehicle collided with Timber Pub & Grub, a popular sports bar along Highway 212, causing a partial roof collapse. This marks the second deadly crash into buildings in the area within two days, authorities confirmed.

Crash Details and Victims

According to Clackamas Fire, the incident happened around 6:30 a.m., when a vehicle struck the bar. One person was trapped inside the car and extricated by first responders, then transported to a hospital where they later died from their injuries. The identity of the victim has not been released.

Additionally, one person inside the building at the time was injured and received treatment. Highway 212, which was initially closed two miles west of the Mount Hood Highway U.S. 26 intersection, has since reopened as per reports.

Recent Crash History in the Area

This comes just two days after a deadly crash on Sunday, when a car struck the ¡Candylashco storefront near Timber Pub & Grub. That collision resulted in a fire and two fatalities: Austin Gabriel Roberts, 21, of Kelso, and Taylor Renee Wonderly, 19, of Portland. Two store employees were also seriously injured and hospitalized; their conditions remain unknown.

Oregon State Police (OSP) are investigating both crashes, and speed was cited as a primary factor in Sunday’s collision.

Repeated Incidents at Timber Pub & Grub

This is not the first time Timber Pub & Grub has been hit by a vehicle. In 2023, surveillance footage showed a pickup truck crashing into the bar. Former owners noted that speeding at the curved intersection near the bar has led to multiple crashes over the years. Reports indicate this was the fifth or sixth vehicle collision at the building.

The bar is located adjacent to a curved intersection on Highway 212, where the speed limit drops from 55 mph to 25 mph approaching the town center. There is also a stoplight just up the road, but previous concerns about traffic safety in the area have not been fully addressed, according to prior interviews with bar owners.

Safety Concerns for Drivers and Pedestrians

Authorities emphasize that these repeated crashes highlight the dangers of high speeds near town intersections and public buildings. Drivers should slow down and remain vigilant, especially near curves, intersections, and areas with reduced speed limits.

What to Do if You Witness a Crash

  1. Call 911 immediately to report the crash.
  2. Keep a safe distance from the vehicles and any debris.
  3. Do not attempt to move injured individuals unless they are in immediate danger.
  4. Provide information to first responders if you saw what happened.
  5. Stay calm and follow emergency personnel instructions.
