Ridgefield Aldrich Museum Features Only All-Digital Paintings for First Time
“Painting in Four Takes” is a new exhibit at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum that is comprised of four separate individual painting exhibitions containing only all-digital art.
“Painting in Four Takes” runs through April 3 at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, 258 Main Street, Ridgefield, 203-438-4519, aldrichart.org.
The exhibit features solo exhibitions of four contemporary painters, each with their own unique style: Steve DiBenedetto, Hayal Pozanti, Julia Rommel and Ruth Root.

Exhibit: “Evidence of Everything,” includes an audio component located near his paintings in the stairwell between the first- and second-floor galleries. Art is inspired by science fiction, psychedelic art and the film “Easy Rider.” Music includes electric guitar, percussion and helicopter sounds, all with pulsating rhythms that compliment the artwork.

Exhibit: “Deep Learning,” paintings are digital animations all composed of characters from “Instant Paradise,” a 31-symbol alphabet that she invented, done in black and white with areas of color.

Exhibit: “Two Italians, Six Lifeguards,” all the paintings are rectangular, monochromatic and layered, on stretched and re-stretched canvases, using sanding, wiping, cutting, and repainting techniques which produced wrinkles, embossed indentations and folds in the artwork giving an unusual texture.
